The Tenth Annual Manulife Dragon
Boat Festival was successfully held in
First, our dragon boat team won the 1st place in Class B of the Dragon Boat Competition. The team was coached by Eugene Tan and the team members were:
Jiasi Chen, Alex Dong, Erica Dowling, Shenglong Gao, Gillian Huang, Anthony Jong, John Ku, Karen Kwan, Sam Shanchun Li, Samuel Li, Lily Ma, Joey Mingrone, Lily Reid, Travis Reid, Joshua Seto-Moore, Wing Yee Sun, Eugene Tan, Matthew Wu, Clarence Yan, and Yolanda Yeung. A member, Erica Dowling, was from Nova Scotia Volleyball team who kindly agreed to join our team on the race day as the team was short of one girl.
Congratulations to our team for the hard work and the achievement!
In addition, we were also able to hold the dragon dance and
display on the spot with the help of Wilber Huang, Sam Li, Youyu Lu, Charles
Lu, Yaohua Lin, Aiming Pan,
Angie Ngu also set up a Chinese food booth and provided lunches for our dragon boat team.
Other groups from outside our society performed Tai-chi and martial-art shows. They certainly help in presenting good images of the Chinese culture and heritage.
The executives of the Society are grateful for help, assistance and volunteer work of the people involved and others whose name we may have missed. Again, without them, we would not be able to present our society in the way we should in the festival.
